Event Description:

The Beatrice Public Library will host an evening on the Lewis and Clark Trail with speaker and author Nelsen Petersen. A book signing of the author's "Selfies With Sacajawea: The Corps of Re-discovery on the Lewis and Clark Trail" will follow.

Beginning in June 2018, Nelsen and his fellow Nebraskan Dean Shissler began a modern day adventure following the path of Lewis and Clark. Starting in St. Louis, the pair traveled along the Missouri River through the Dakotas and northern Montana, over the Continental Divide and down the Columbia River in order to reach the Pacific Ocean two weeks later. Unlike the original explorers, these men were equipped with GPS, electricity and a car. What they found was a new appreciation for Lewis and Clark, Sacajawea and the group who comprised the Corps of Discovery.

This is a special activity of Library Appreciation Month and National Library Week.
