Strangers from a Strange Land…
At Homestead National Monument of America

Enter the underwater world of the creepy creek crawlers. On Saturday, August 10th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Homestead National Monument of America’s Education Center discover the macroinvertebrates that lurk in the muddy waters at the Monument and learn about the important role they play in aquatic ecosystems and how they benefit us. The Strangers from a Strange Land… program will be followed by a take-home craft activity. This is the final installment of the Kids in Parks: Into the Unknown! program series.

“Into the Unknown! is a fun and educational program that will engage children and their families to explore closely the prairie landscape and its inhabitants,” said Mark Engler, Superintendent of Homestead National Monument of America.

The Kids in Parks: Into the Unknown! summer programs at Homestead are open to the public and take place at Homestead’s Education Center from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays. The programs are FREE of charge. We encourage the use of sunscreen, bug spray, and closed toed shoes as we investigate the mysterious unknown of the tall-grass prairie.
