The Beatrice Public Library

The Beatrice Public Library has many resources, not just books, that directly benefit tourists in our area.

We are a statewide Arboretum site and have two beautiful gardens that are maintained by area Master Gardeners. The library offers regional seeds from our seed library also maintained by the Master Gardeners. We offer free Wi-Fi and the use of computers with the capability for printing.

The library houses the Nebraska Genealogical Society’s collection as well as having an extensive collection held by the library itself. Anyone can visit the Heritage Room where the local and state history collections are housed. Our MakerSpace is a great place to try out your creativity or just see what others are creating. Speaking of creativity, we have the Vette Cultural Arts Center where we have had exhibits from local artists, and The Sheldon Art Gallery in Lincoln.

There is always something in the creative play area for the children to use. Building with Legos is a fun way to spend time and the children’s computers have preloaded educational games that can be used. We also have many board games and areas in which to play them. Newspapers and other periodicals are available for perusing while visiting the library.

Most importantly, we have a knowledgeable staff that can help you locate resources for most questions.

For the in-town visitors with library cards, we offer books, audiobooks, DVDs, magazines, and newspapers. Go to our website, www.beatrice.ne.gov/library to access eBooks, audiobooks, music, magazines, newspapers, movies, and other online resources. Libraries are important not only in the communities they serve but also are inexpensive destination to visit while in town.
